Roy L. DeFreece III and Steve Cornelius officially incorporated the Toolroom, Inc. on October 3 2008. Many molders in the Western Chicago suburbs may remember Roy’s name from his very successful company Dependable Mold & Machining. Roy closed Dependable in 2001 due to the exodus of mold making to offshore builders. Since then we have seen and heard of more tooling coming back to the U.S. and have been encouraged by previous customers looking for the high quality and customer service you can only get here in the states.

 The Toolroom, Inc. is a U.S. veteran owned company. We are a full service machine and mold shop with CAD/CAM design and engineering capabilities. While being highly capable of doing mold building, engineering changes and repairs to +/-0.0001” tolerances, we also do one-off and engineering projects that are more concerned with part function or aesthetics.

 
We take great pride in our capabilities and creativity, we love what we do, and you will see that in our work and work ethic. We are well versed and experienced in tight tolerance machining and mold making. We have spent our time since the 1970’s building and repairing plastic injection and rubber molds, as well as doing general and production machining in various companies that we either worked in, managed or owned This gives us a broad background for machining tasks, and a keen perspective on business. These things will ensure you that we see things from your point of view both physically and fiscally. We know what it is like to compete in the market place and will do everything in our power to help you succeed with your project.

 Our philosophy in business is much like our personal outlooks on life: There is not much we can’t handle, nothing we can’t figure out, and no challenge that we won’t at least learn something from. With this outlook and a “turn it upside down and dismantle it” curiosity for details, we have some very unique perspectives and numerous friends and resources in a wide variety of industries.
